Central government increased the validity of TET qualifying certificate, now it will be valid for life instead of 7 years
The Central Government has increased the validity of qualifying certificate of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) from 7 years to life time. That is, now once the TET is passed, its certificate will be valid for life. In this regard, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, "This will be a positive step in the direction of increasing employment opportunities for the candidates who want to make a career in the teaching field.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Education, this decision has been implemented since 10 years ago. That is, those whose certificates have been completed between these years, they will also now be eligible for the teacher recruitment exam.
The Ministry of Education has also said that for the candidates whose certificate period has completed seven years, the concerned State Government or Union Territory Administration will take necessary action to issue a fresh TET certificate. This change has been made in the guidelines of National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) dated February 11, 2011, whose TET will be conducted by the state governments and the validity of its certificate was 7 years from the date of passing the TET.
Teacher Eligibility Test is one of the qualifications required for appointment as a teacher in schools. Earlier, the validity of TET pass certificate was for 7 years, but there was no restriction on the number of attempts for the candidates to obtain the certificate. Apart from this, the candidates who have passed the exam can also appear for the re-examination to improve the score.
