After 10th in Maharashtra, 12th board exam also canceled, 16 lakh students will be affected; Earlier the exam was postponed till the end of May
Despite the relief in the infection figures, the Maharashtra government has finally approved the proposal to cancel the 12th examination. A detailed guideline in this regard may be issued soon. It is believed that like class 10th, marking will be done on the basis of the result of internal examination.
There was an agreement on canceling the exam in the cabinet meeting
During the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, in view of the third wave, almost all the ministers raised the demand to cancel the 12th examination. 16 lakh students in the state were about to appear for the 12th exam. Earlier this exam was postponed till the end of May.
Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had also indicated to cancel the examination on Wednesday. He had said that the decision to cancel the 12th examination would be sent to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and a formal announcement in this regard would be made in the next two days.
Earlier, indicating the cancellation of the examination, the state education minister had said, “In the cabinet meeting, we raised the issue of vaccination, health and safety of children and the impact on their mental health. In that meeting, the CM had also said that there should be a uniform policy on class 12th examination. He further said that we informed the cabinet on Wednesday about the decision of the Center and other states to cancel the examination. Gaikwad further said that for us, the health and safety of children is important.
10th exam has already been canceled
The Maharashtra government had already canceled the 10th exam. Students of class 10th will be given marks in class 10th on the basis of marks of 9th and marks of internal exam.
